Privacy & cookies

Short version: you can read everything without an account or cookies. We collect as little as we can. We do not sell or share personal information.

Reading the site

We count page views with a first-party, cookieless counter: it stores only totals per page, per day, per device type and referring site. It does not store your IP address or any identifier.

Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4)

We only load Google Analytics if you press “Accept” on the cookie notice. If you decline — or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control / “do not sell or share” signal — it is never loaded. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer.

Accounts

If you sign in (Google or email link) we use Firebase Authentication (Google) to verify you. We keep your account ID and email address there. Your reactions and poll votes are stored against your account ID so we can enforce one per story/poll; only totals are shown publicly.

Videos

YouTube videos use the privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com) and load only after you press play; YouTube’s own privacy policy then applies.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data (including your account, reactions and votes) at any time by emailing mail@jeromelacote.com from your account address. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context advertising.
